Hugo TRANIN on April 12 at the Astrophysics aperitif-conference with the association Universciel

On 12 April, Hugo TRANIN will present his thesis work during a presentation adapted to the general public, followed by an informal discussion, in the Café L’Astronef.

Here is a summary of his presentation:

“When astronomers first sent an X-ray detector into space in 1962, they expected to see only the Sun. However, they discovered a sky full of thousands of exotic stars: rare stars, black holes (this was the proof of their existence!) and pairs of stars, all in extreme states.
To answer these questions, one often needs a large number of observations, and that is the problem: even though the X-ray telescopes sent into space since 2000 have photographed hundreds of thousands of X-ray sources, there is no efficient way to identify them all automatically.
This is why a new approach for the field emerged last year: the collaborative science website “CLAXSON” was launched, to get as many sources classified as possible and potentially discover new types of stars…
Come and learn all about this experiment, take the opportunity to participate and maybe advance our knowledge in the High Energy Universe!”
