Released a new version of the deliverable D6.3 catalogue

[26/07/2024] Work package 6 aims at providing spectral charaterisations for several subsamples of serendipitous XMM-Newton sources, taking advantage of their X-ray spectra, automatically extracted during the pipeline processing of all XMM-Newton products. A new new version of the deliverable D6.3 catalogue has been released. You can find the information in our catalogue section (http://xmm-ssc.irap.omp.eu/xmm2athena/catalogues/ )…

STONKS: Quasi-real time XMM-Newton transient detection system

[29 May 2024] Over recent decades, astronomy has entered the era of massive data and real-time surveys. This is improving the study of transient objects – although they still contain some of the most poorly understood phenomena in astrophysics, as it is inherently more difficult to obtain data on them. In order to help detect…

Black Hole Week 2024: Videos

[14/05/2024] Last week we celebrated the #BlackHoleWeek. Throughout the week we posted videos with astronomers answered children’s questions about #blackholes. This activity was carried out together with Athena Community Office and AHEAD2020 projects. Now you can watch all the videos on our Youtube channel: https://bit.ly/xmm2athena_youtube Enjoy it!

Black Hole Week 2024

[06/05/2024] Black holes are one of the most fascinating objects in the universe, and children are often curious about them. This #BlackHoleWeek, scientists from our community, Athena and AHEAD2020 projects answer questions from children in 4 languages. Every day we will be releasing a new video, stay tuned to our social media and website.
